6. Browser Extension — Striffs for GitHub
The Striffs for GitHub Chrome extension processes the following data when you use it on GitHub pull request pages:
- Github PR metadata — pull request page information needed to generate architectural diagrams
- Repository content — file paths and changed-file content from PRs, used to build diagrams
- Optional GitHub token — stored locally in your browser if you choose to provide one; required only for private repositories
- Engagement events — anonymous usage events (diagram views, interactions) sent to the Striffs backend
Storage
The extension stores your optional GitHub token and cached diagram data locally in your browser's extension storage. No data is sent to third parties beyond the Striffs backend for diagram generation.
Network Requests
The extension communicates with:
- GitHub endpoints needed to fetch pull request data and repository content
- The Striffs backend (
api.striff.io) to generate diagrams, fetch configuration, and send engagement events
User Control
You can clear your saved token and all cached data at any time from the extension's popup menu.
